Donate to CHERUBS just by searching or shopping on-line! Download the Goodsearch Toolbar and help us win $1000.
CHERUBS could win $1000 if we can be one of the top 5 charities to get supporters to download our Goodsearch Toolbar.
It's safe and free. They don't sell your info. Goodsearch and Goodshop are sites that work with dozens of large stories to donate profits to charities like CHERUBS. If you search through Goodsearch (it's just like Google), then they donate money to CHERUBS. And if you shop on-line through the toolbar (a all major stores), the stores donate a portion of your shopping to CHERUBS. And it costs you nothing! With the holidays coming up a lot of you will be shopping on-line anyway - this is a great way to help CDH families by doing something that you're already doing - for free! :)
We've raised over $500 the past 2 years this way with just a few of us participating. Imagine what we could do if we can get family and friends to do this too! :)
And we could win $1000 if we get the most people participating. So far, the top charity in this contest has less than 50 participants. Surely we can beat that! :)

2011 CDH Cherubs Calendars - We Need Your Photos!
We are doing 2 calendars for 2011! :)
Calendar #1 will be like our calendar last year but of course different graphics. We work HARD to make sure anything that we sell looks professional as don't want anything cheesy to represent these cdbabies and families! We think our volunteers do a pretty darn good job with graphics! :) Check out last year's calendar below. You can still order it at http://www.cafepress.com/cherubs.415954058 Please send your cherubs' photos (survivors and non-survivors) to membership@cdhsupport.org and make to include their name and date(s)! Photos must be submitted by November 15th.
Calendar #2 will be 13 "Save the Cherubs" photos. This calendar will be sold not only to members but the public as well. But to make this one we need 13 month appropriate photos! So those of you with wings (or go order some at http://www.savethecherubs.org).... we need a good pumpkin patch photo, Christmas, football, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, etc. Make sure they don't look posed! ;) All photos submitted will also go to our "Save the Cherubs" campaign - and all those posters, graphics will be ready by November too. Photos must be submitted by November 15th.

CHERUBS in the Durham Herald-Sun

Submitted story
Recently in Durham, CHERUBS, an international children's charity headquartered in Wake Forest, received $30,000 as part of the APX Gives Back Project. This cash presentation is part of the nationwide APX Alarm Gives Back Project where more than 375 nonprofit organizations competed over the past few months through voting on Facebook. CHERUBS won first place regionally and second place nationally.
CHERUBS serves families of babies affected by Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is a birth defect that occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully form, allowing abdominal organs into the chest cavity and preventing lung growth. More than 600,000 babies have been born with CDH worldwide since 2000. Fifty percent of babies born with CDH do not survive. The cause is not known.
Both Duke and UNC are highly-rated care centers for babies born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and we value our ties to both of these institutions and to our community here in the Triangle. CHERUBS was dreamed up in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Duke when the founders met while their sons were patients in 1993. It was founded two years later in 1995 with the support and encouragement of a pediatric surgeon at UNC Chapel Hill. CHERUBS is the world's first and largest organization for CDH, helping families in 38 countries. Our charity offers dozens of free services for families, promotes CDH awareness through our national Save the Cherubs campaign, and we are currently working with three congressional sponsors for $50 million in National Institutes of Health funding for CDH research. This prize from APX doubled its annual budget.

Cherubs helping CHERUBS in the APX Contest!!!
The latest voting tallies are up and as of Friday we were in 1st place by 151 votes - up over 800 votes in 1 week!!!!!!!! WTG CHERUBS family for pulling together and working hard for our babies and CDH Research and Support!!!!
It's been a long road in this contest. We have overcome a lot of obstacles and we're still on top! This is proof of what a few determined people can do with the help of friends and family for a great cause!!!!
We have posted flyers, e-mailed 1000's, messaged 1000's of people on Facebook, posted on sites and we have begged, begged, begged people to vote while also raising a ton of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Awreness!
We're also throwing a "contest within a contest" on Facebook - giving people a chance to win great prizes while helping our cause and raising awareness!!!! But to be honest, I think the families just want to help out rather than win any prizes... they are all that compassionate and determined! But they're still going to win prizes. ;)
CHERUBS APX Contest Within A Contest!
(posted last week on Facebook by Dawn)
We hope everyone is voting! Want to raise more awareness and get votes in honor / memory of your cherub? Start an event page for the APX contest! Name it "Vote every day in honor/memory of _____ by voting for CHERUBS in the APX contest!" so every time your family and friends log in, they will be reminded to vote!
This is a contest inside a contest! CDH Awareness Kits and T-Shirts that say "I am a CDH Hero! I helped to 1000's of babies born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia by raising money for CDH Research and Support!" will be awarded to the people who (1 prize each):
1. Whoever has the most "attendees" on their Vote for CHERUBS in the APX contest FB event.
2. Whoever has the most active wall on their event by getting people to vote and then post that they voted.
3. Whoever is the most creative off of Facebook to raise votes! Handing out flyers, have a "vote in" at work or school, talk to your church, etc. (take photos!)
Awards given by voting done on CHERUBS forums on August 22nd - 30th. All members can log in and vote on who should win the above 3 awards.
If CHERUBS wins the $100,000 prize, all 3 winners will ALSO win (valued at over $350!);
- 2 tickets to the Angel Ball
- "Stories of Cherubs Vol. I"
- "Stories of Cherubs Vol. II"
- CDH Baby Book
- "Cooking with Cherubs" Vol. II
- 4 personalized t-shirts each with their cherub's CDH Awareness ribbons on them
+ the above prizes of a CDH Awareness Kit and contest T-shirt!
What a great and fun way to raise awareness and funds for a good cause!!!!!
Here is an example event - http://www.facebook.com/ev
It is in memory of my son, Shane. I will recruit voters but won't be in this contest within a contest since I'm the President of CHERUBS and that wouldn't be fair. But all other members and volunteers can participate! :)
You are welcome to use any text or graphics off of this event page, CHERUBS site, our FB pages, etc that can help you in the contest!
Our Contest Entries as of July 18, 2010:
